Stephane and Sarah met while working at Michel Roux's Waterside Inn at Bray. Stephane started as a Commis and left as Senior Sous Chef seven years later, going onto Le Manoir Au Quat Saison and to Daylesford House as a Private Chef to Sir Anthony Bamford.
Following three years at The Waterside Inn, Sarah established her business as a Freelance Private Chef, until the arrival of their daughter in 2007.
In the Autumn of 2008 the opportunity at The Herbert Arms was too great to miss, with Kathryn, Sarah's younger sister, becoming the final member of the team who takes care of front of house.
We share passion for food, friendly service and people enjoying their local. The Herbert Arms is a welcoming place to stop by, for a quick pint or a relaxing dinner.
Larger Parties Larger dinner parties are very welcome, it is helpful to get a pre-order on parties over 8 people, and a slightly reduced choice may be necessary. The dining room is available for private parties, including Sunday evenings, and can accommodate up to 34 people.
Sarah and Stephane are very happy to devise menu's to suit your requirements, please do telephone or email of you would like any further information.
Children Children are very welcome, we have high chairs available and can do reduced portions of many of the dishes on the menu. We are also able to offer a children's menu if pre requested.
Pets Dogs and walkers with muddy boots are very welcome in the bar area.
Accessibility The Herbert Arms is an old building with limited access in certain areas: the bar is accessible by wheel chair, and there is a small step to both the dining and games room, with most wheel chairs fitting through the width of the door frame. Unfortunatly we do not have disabled toilets at present. If you would like any further information regarding accessibility please do telephone and we will be most happy to help.
